“My heart needs a surgeon | my soul needs a friend, so I run to the Father | again and again…”
We sang these words at church, and I realized that oftentimes His presence is not the first place I go for help.
So many other things came to mind, and my prayer is that I would learn to come to Him first with my burdens before looking to the world.
The Message translates the next couple of verses to “Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.” (Matthew 11:29–30)
What could it look like to walk in step with Him, shouldering a light load with His help and with His company?
I LOVE the fact that the “I” in this verse in the original Greek translation is emphasized.
And the word “rest” implies a “refreshment.”
Only He can refresh our hearts! What a beautiful truth.
