Bible verse bracelets for strength and courage from Verselets

Hi, I'm Morgan! I create Bible verse bracelets called Verselets®, and you'll see links to those throughout this post. The goal of Verselets® is not to memorize verses for the sake of memorizing, but to truly dwell on His word, take Him in, think on good and true things, and allow Him to transform us.

8 Bible Verses for Strength and Courage

1. Joshua 1:9 — He is with us

“The LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” — Joshua 1:9

As Joshua faces a challenging road ahead after the death of Moses, God tells Joshua to be fearless and unafraid, because "I am with you."

When we begin to see how powerful and loving our God is, we understand that there is nothing that He can't do.

His presence alone drives away discouragement and fear.

2. Isaiah 34:4 — He delivers us from fear

“I sought the LORD. and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” — Isaiah 34:4

In Psalm 34:4, the word “sought” comes from the Hebrew root word that means “ask,” "frequent," or “worship.”

David was persistent. Not only did he have great reverence for the Lord, but he demonstrated his awe for Him through consistent worship and prayers.

He sought Him.

And the Lord was faithful to deliver Him. But God doesn't always deliver us from our earthly circumstances. Sometimes He does.

But oftentimes He is so incredibly faithful to increase our trust in Him and instead deliver us from our fears.

And when we get a glimpse of this freedom…when we begin to believe He is bigger than them and bigger than death itself, we get a taste of eternity.

But Jesus speaks of His kingdom on earth. Because of Jesus, His kingdom has already come and He is inviting us into it today.

What would it look like to seek Him, trust Him, and begin to walk in the freedom His kingdom brings today?

Perhaps this is what it looks like to live in the kingdom now: to find ourselves surrounded by His protection and peace, even in the midst of a storm.

3. Psalm 46:10 — He calms our storm

“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10

God reminds us that abiding > striving. Our hope and peace comes from the One who created everything. The one who has the power to calm every storm.

He says,"Be still." John 15 tells us that we can do nothing without Him. It's only by abiding in Him and seeking His strength and His purpose that we can do anything worthwhile, anything with eternal impact.

Sometimes we need to take a breath, rest in Him, and trust that He still has good plans, even when we don't see a path forward.

4. Isaiah 43:1 — He calls us by name

“Fear not, for I have redeemed you, I have called you by name, you are mine.” – Isaiah 43:1

My oldest daughter recently learned that there are more stars in the sky than grains of sand on the earth.

As an 8-year-old who builds sand castles, this blows her mind. She brings it up often. She cannot wrap her head around it–I can’t either!

This is God’s love! We cannot possibly understand how big and wonderful His love is for us.

And the same God who laid it all down, also calls us each by name. He is King of the universe yet knows the details of our hearts, the things pressing in on us today.

Like my daughter, I hope I keep bringing up His love, over and over again! I hope I always keep running to it and resting in it. I hope I always stand in awe of His power.

5. 2 Timothy 1:7 — He gives us power

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.” — 2 Timothy 1:7

In 2 Timothy 1:7, Paul reminds us that the spirit of the LORD is POWERFUL! He has the ability to drive out demons, heal bodies, and raise the dead to life!

When we welcome the Holy Spirit into our lives, this is the power that dwells in us! We are victors because of Christ Jesus and this world is not our home.

We don't have to live chained to fear because Jesus has overcome everything by the power of His blood on the cross. When we accept His love for us and admit we are sinners, He immediately covers us in his grace and forgiveness.

We are free! Free to live in HIm with all power, love, and self-control.

6. Hebrews 10:23 — He is faithful to provide

“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.” – Hebrews 10:23

“Hold unswervingly” or “hold fast” implies a possessive holding on to hope. And this isn’t to earn our faith, but it’s a direct result of our faith in Him. We trust His character, so we can cling to hope even in the face of trials, temptation and persecution.

And what is our hope?

As Christians we used to put our hope in the unblemished animals brought for sacrifice, in their perfection that would atone for our sins and make us right in the sight of God.

But when Jesus sacrificed Himself, when both His body and the veil were torn, He became our hope.

His sacrifice, once and forever, now makes us holy and right in God’s eyes. Out of His faithful love for us, He made a way to be with us forever.

May we hold unswervingly to the King who has given us everything we need.

7. Proverbs 31:25 — He clothes us with strength

“She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.” – Proverbs 31:35

Jesus told His disciples, “Take heart because I have overcome the world."

Yes, in this world we will have trouble, but as Christians we are covered and clothed in His power and righteousness because of what He did on the cross.

When our Father looks at us He sees the perfection and holiness of Jesus Christ.

Proverbs 31:25 says that we can laugh without fear of the future, and it's true.

We can be at peace in the midst of turmoil, because we know that this world can't offer us anything. He has already given us everything, and He is worthy of our praise.

8. Psalm 139:14 — He is worthy of our praise

“I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” – Psalm 139:14

There are countless reasons to praise Him, for His goodness and glory is never ending. He is the God of the universe, yet ever-present with us.

He is powerful to deliver us from fear and storms, and loves us enough to call us by name.

He gives us His spirit of power and love and covers us with strength and dignity.

How could we not praise Him, our creator and King?

Carry God's Word With You

Reading Scripture is powerful. Memorizing it allows God's truth to come to mind throughout ordinary moments, difficult days, and seasons when we need encouragement the most.

That's why I created Verselets®. These Scripture memory bracelets use the first letter of each word in a Bible verse as a simple memory cue. As you learn the letters, they help lead you back to the words of Scripture—so you can hide God's Word in your heart and carry it with you wherever you go.
